Thief crosses himself as he steals from church

A CALLOUS crook made the Sign of the Cross as he helped his accomplice steal a treasured church lamp.

The raider was captured on CCTV footage crossing himself before acting as a lookout man as a second thief – who was also caught on camera – stole the 116-year-old artefact.

The crime sickened members of the congregation at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Winson Green.

Ann Byrne, chairman of the church’s finance committee, said: “I could not believe my eyes when I saw the CCTV.

“Crossing himself means he knew what he was doing and the importance of what was being stolen. That makes it even worse for us. It’s absolutely awful.”

Seriously though, I hope they catch these two cretins.

God may look the other way, but not CCTV.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

What the hell? Oh yes, I keep forgetting that not being religious means you have no concept of right or wrong or morality or ethics - and of course if you are religious it's almost impossible for you to do anything wrong.

It was probably just an automatic response. All those years of crossing yourself, and going through the tedious repetitive motions in a mass is hard to shake off. My husband actually crossed himself without thinking when we had to attend a family obligation in a church. I nudged him and said, "WTF are you doing?!" :nono: His response, "Fuck, I didn't even realize I did that!"

:hehe:

They have CCTV in churches now?

I guess they can't trust the priests either.

If I was him, I'd go to confession, and get it off my chest.
After I'd sold it on, of course.
It would be interesting to see if he got forgiven, and just how many hail-marys he got as penance.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
