Analyzing Christians

Post by Tero » Sun Oct 09, 2011 3:01 pm

I was a bit bored with Dawkins as far as God Delusion went. I had read most stuff before. The invisible friend was a nice twist.

But I am looking more at the books of once fierce christians who escaped and are able to analyze their former pals. I looked at a book a year or two back. Forgot the author. He was a minister.

Christians themselves analyze themselves by way of Greek temperaments:
LaHaye's biggest offense is trying to tie the Bible into his personal theories (as he does with his Left Behind books and other writings). His know-it-all writing style boldly proclaims that he can tell you the temperament of Noah, the Apostle Paul and others, including minor characters that are only in the Bible for a page. Never does he flinch or hesitate, refusing to acknowledge that all of his judgments are based on a few verses--how in the world does he know what any of these people were like in real life?

the book is Why You Act the Way You Do
Tim LaHaye (Author)

Jeez, I did not realize there was a whole self help section that uses the old fashioned analysis:
Florence Littauer shows how to determine what type of temperament you fall into: Popular Sanguine, Powerful Choleric, Perfect Melancholy, or Peaceful Phlegmatic.

I'm already bored. I may have to go back to the rocks book and read this in small helpings.

Well, here is the book. Not a whole lot of comments, really. I expected hundreds of "reviews".
