A challenge to theists!

Post by Rum » Thu Jun 09, 2011 1:43 pm

I'm an atheist, but for the sake of this thread let's assume I am not a happy one. I want a god to cling to, to offer me hope and above all to offer me eternal life, or something like it!

But which to choose!? There are so many world religions and then there are all the sub-divisions and then the tiny little cults!

So ye of much faith, which should I choose - and why is your truth more truthful that the next guy's?

Jesus is the best. Or is that Yahweh? Or Jabba? :ask:

Do we actually have any theists here just now? Just curious. (I don't count Mandy.)

I wouldn't look for the most truthful, try one that reflects your life style.

If praying 5 times a day seems like a ballsache, islam ain't for you.

rastafarianism maybe is you like a bit of herb.

there are some fairly strange bi-sexual hindu sects if that's your thing.

or perhaps cherry pick the best bits and claim to be a syncretist?

I suspect not. It was a rhetorical challenge really... :tea:

Christian Identity. You can rant about the dirty Joos not being Israelites and that Jesus was an Aryan.
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Code: Select all

// Replaces with spaces the braces in cases where braces in places cause stasis
   $str = str_replace(array("\{","\}")," ",$str);

No such thing as a rhetorical thread.

If you truly want to be close to God, consider signing up to Roman Catholicism. It's actually the only true faith, as it's the only one with an actual verified representative of God here on Earth. You know it's true, because it couldn't have lasted so long and been so consistent if it were a mere work of man.

I'm not a theist, but if you're heading that way I'd recommend Bumba, the vomit god of the Bushongo in the Congo. Bumba vomits up the universe including earth and a few primitive lifeforms. Bumba then fucks off forever to let the universe and life evolve to its current state without intervention. Much of this, the latter bit anyway, is consistent with science and there's no need to get out of bed on a Sunday morning or kill anyone in Bumba's name.
Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

Which religion involves the most sex and debauchery?
