Jesus Camp

Post by Annuhh5 » Wed Jun 01, 2011 12:06 pm

Has anyone seen the documentary called Jesus Camp? I'm about 6 minutes in and I already can't believe my ears and eyes.
The woman that is leading the 'Children's Prayer Conference' in the USA, asked a room full of woman and children if "anyone believes that God can do anything?"
The camera then showed a woman with a young child on her lap and another next to her (who didn't seem so interested), forcing them to lift their arms in agreement.
If I don't end up with a broken computer by the end of this, it will be a 'miracle.'

This documentary is getting worse and worse, I'm starting to get angry. This woman said, and I quote "[children] are so usable in Christianity."

I watched numerous lengthy excerpts when it came out a couple of years ago. They were enough to give me a familiar and disturbing picture. I haven't watched the whole thing, but do very much understand your anger from what I've seen and my own childhood experience bearing it out.

Currently, the government-initiated and funded christian push into Australian schools is being championed by a woman with a similar philosophy: Thread: Two steps forward...

I just find it so disgusting. The best part was the woman that is homeschooling her son, and says that science doesn't prove anything. Hahahah!

I hate that film. Becky Fisher is a nasty piece of work. Her tormenting of childern adds to nothing more than child abuse.

This has nothing to do with Jesus Camp, but I thought it would be fun to post here.

*deep breath* wrt to your latest link, Annuh ... the woman has clearly slipped to the 'dork syde' herself, as far as her delusion goes. The confusion and concern of the others is obvious. It's most disturbing that the little girl had to witness the whole scene, that none of them thought to take her somewhere safe. Says a lot about family dynamics, and often typical impotence in the face of a strange and surreal situation.

The fact that she was yelling at the little girl as well, to get out of the house! They become so blind to what is around them. As long as what they believe has been shoved down everyone's throat it's fine. Who cares who gets hurt.
This happens every time there is a hardcore Christian caller on The Atheist Experience (if you don't watch it, i highly recommend it). The atheist presenters will wait for the Creationist to get their thought across, then as soon as they try to tell them why they're wrong, the Creationist yells over them and calls them rude for trying to shove what they believe down their throats.
This all just gets me fired up haha.

Rather than start another parody thread, I figured I'd just post Jesus Cramp here, instead. No need to thank me.

I don't, and won't watch these kinds of things, because I know it'll get me incensed, and I try very hard to keep cheerful these days.

If you know that you will get angry. Don't watch it, you'll want to punch someone out afterwards.
