Best attested miracles/paranormal/magical events.

Post by darren » Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:50 am

Hi,

Some paranormal/magical events are better evidenced than others. I'm looking for a list of the most well attested claims. This need not be limited to religious claims. Can the community here please help me compile a list?

The only ones I can think of are the hindu milk miracle and fatima.

Maybe there is a site that has lists of miracles?

Thanks in advance,

There are none.
No miracle has ever been confirmed and never will be until an independant organisation is able to assess them under controlled conditions.

I think he's looking for "most commonly accepted as being real" type stuff. The ones the religious like to trot out as "proof of divine intervention", etc.

What kind of miracle is "fatima"?

70,000 people witnessed the sun zig-zagging across the sky and change colour, locally, at Fatima.

Supposedly, in the 1930s, the Virgin Mary came to three girls nearly Fatima, Spain, and gave them three "news items", the last of which was just revealed in the past few years. (J.P.II?)

They're claiming that was a miracle?

The children reported that the Lady had promised them that she would on 13 October reveal her identity to them[11] and provide a miracle "so that all may believe."[12]

There's a lot of links if you Google "miracle at Fatima" including debunkings.

Zilla doesn't have the (dubious) advantage of being ex-Catholic and Irish ... this fairy-tale is part of our culture and upbringing. :levi:

gawdzilla is right; even though all magical claims have extremely poor supporting evidence, I'm looking for those that are best supported.
