Atheists have always argued that this world is all that we have, and that our duty is to one another to make the very most and best of it. ~Christopher Hitchens~

Is there a new contender for Prince of Darkness, to be cast out of the light of eternal paradise now that the original notion of hell has become considered passé?

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

Re: The War in Heaven
The book of Revelations spoke of a great war that broke out in Heaven when Satan was said to be cast out, which made me wonder that this Heaven may not be the place it was cracked up to be as to be imperfect enough for war to happen. It is often quoted that history is "written by the winners" like a kind of war propaganda that endures long after peace is declared, so that being said how sure could I be that Heaven is perfect bliss? If God created an evil prick like Satan how can I be sure there is not another lurking within his army of angels? Or how can I be sure that is was just might rather than right that prevailed and this "God" was every bit as much an evil prick as Satan, especially when one takes into account all the disasters and famines on Earth which were often attributed as "acts of God". So I grew up in my childhood fearing Heaven every bit as much as Hell because I got the impression it was run by a leader akin to a Babylonian tyrant for all eternity, which is very much the impression I had of Yahweh. It was much more comfortable with believing death was the end and we enter into a deep sleep rather than Heaven. At least we would not feel anything or even get bored, because I was never bored at any stage of the 13.7 billion years between the Big Bang and my birth.
Heaven!!
just freakily scary.
Heaven!!
Just because more people believe Jesus is the son of God and not the son of Satan does not make it any truer.
