Dear Christian ...

Post by mindyourmind » Fri Apr 30, 2010 7:52 pm

If I say "Christianity must fuck off and die" you must of course interpret that in a metaphorical, non-literal way, with due and proper regard for the correct context and social and cultural setting.

Just like you do with those nasty bits in the Bible.
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

A christian lady of somewhere in her 120's nagged me at some fucking business lunch about why I "don't want to accept the Lord into my heart". This went on and on, and I was really very polite. I then asked her why she thinks God ordered the Israelites to kill all those people, babies and animals in the Bible, to which she OFFUCKINGCOURSE said that we (who the fuck is "we") must take "difficult passages" in the Bible as metaphorical, in their right context. I asked her what she thinks those passages I mentioned may be a metaphor for, to which she repeated her little rhyme. By that time my composure was raw and bleeding, and that's when I told her that in my respectful view christianity should fuck off and die, but that she should take that as a metaphor.

For some reason she then left, clucking and shaking her feeble old head.

I meant all of the metaphorical cunts must go to Jesus - and I mean that in the proper context.

When they come out with the fact that some parts of the bible are a metaphor, ask them for a list. If they seriously expect you to swallow that crap, the least they could do is to let you know which bits you can chew and spit out. :tea:

Hi mindyourmind,

"...she then left, clucking and shaking her feeble old head"

In her "120's" ?

Wow - You're a real champ.

You must be so proud of yourself - tough guy!

Let me guess - you were on one of those Treacle and Honey Jesus Loves You sites before you read my post, and the culture shock was a bit much? You still haven't made peace with the idea that some people do not appreciate being preached to, even if the preacher is in her 120's. And while I share your sentiments about the old ones in their walking frames (by far the bulk of the remaining christians nowadays) I prefer the younger, snooty ones that one finds on atheist forums. They whine much louder.

Well, it's not so much "my" avatar as a realistic expression of your god of "love". Of course we all mean that in a metaphorical way.

And the "things" that are explained by the avatar - it's time people like you accept that preaching, at lunch tables and pretty much anywhere outside of a church is unacceptable and that, as in this case, eventually there will be a response, and that response may not be what you demand of other people.
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

My approach it to chuckle and in a rather condescending and pitying tone ask 'You don't still believe in that stuff do you''?

..then walk away shaking my head as if I am disappointed that such a thing is still going on.
