Kind of sums it all up in one concise sentence, doesn't it? :?

Can't think of a single word that adequately describes how fucked up it is....

The peasants gullible must have murmered 'Man that architect is a deep thinker. He just blows me away'

Indeed. I would love to hear an interpretation of that.

Far be it for me to defend this rubbish, but the phrase 'fear the Lord' had a different meaning to the one we automatically think of these days in centuries gone by. I think the words 'awe', 'respect' and 'overwhelmed by' more accurately describe what it would have meant.

Now - no attacking me OK!?

Fear did not mean 'awe'. It may have meant respect, of the kind that the Gestapo demanded.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."
