Hey, I'm still new to all this criticising religion stuff.

I always thought athism is just atheism. We don't believe in god, but I've become aware that there seems to be various levels of atheism.
Agnostics = I don't really believe, but I'll behave just in case.
Non-believer = I'll just keep quiet. They might punch my face.
Humanists = I don't believe but lets all have a group hug
New atheism = You're wrong coz science says so.
Anti-theist = "YOU'RE NOT GOING HOME IN A FUCKING AMBULANCE, because medical advancement is a sin, etc.!!"

Yes and no?

My guess is that would depend on how anti-theist you are.

You can be actively antagonistic towards god and be a humanist. However if that antagonism towards god extended to those humans that believe in god, that's when I would say there is some murkiness about whether you can still be both. Good question.

Until you feel more confident here is a good rule of thumb - when approached by a religious person, who asks you something like this, stand back one step, square your chest, look her / him in the eye and in a loud voice (regardless of where you may be) shout "FUCK OFF, YOU RETARDED PERVERT".

That makes all this categorising quite unnecessary

The simple fact that we're human gives us a need to categorize things.

Humanism entails certain moral principles in regards to human life, human conduct and so on. It in no ways dictates your stance on religion so I don't think there is a confliction between the two.
