Re: Muslim nightmare?
For a very short period of time in Islam Muhammad allowed the worship/intercession of the three goddesses; Al'Uzza, Allat, and Manat. But then Muhammad said, that it was the devil which made him say that and no God so that verse was nullified. Personally, I would have found it alot easier to worship Goddesses then a God.

Wasn't a story about those passages the reason Salman Rushdie got in a spot of bother?...Idle wrote:For a very short period of time in Islam Muhammad allowed the worship/intercession of the three goddesses; Al'Uzza, Allat, and Manat. A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

Yes, but the reason the Muslims were pissed off was that Salman Rushdie was quoted sources within Islam which were not considered authentic. Even till this day Muslims do not accept that Muhammed was inspired by Satan and allowed the worship of the three pagan goddesses, since this does not come from Bukari or Muslim. Its basically like a source/citation coming from Wikipedia rather then a scientific general. Although if you do read the biography Muhammed it is not unreasonable to assume he did allow the worship of the three pagan goddesses, since that was the only way to save his ass, it was more a tactical move in the context of a impeding war in which the Muslims where outnumbered something like 120 to 1.

Typical theist. Change the rules to suit the times. I suspect you knew that all along, but asked anyhow because of your love of rhetorical questions. Am I right, or am I right?
