Count with me now - people resurrectimised in NT

Post by mindyourmind » Wed Apr 14, 2010 5:31 pm

The resurrection of Jebus was a singular event in human history, proving that he was the Son of God. Blah. Etc. And so on.

But yet ....

But wait ... there's more. Much more. Even in the NT.

Jairus's little girl - poof.
Lazarus - poof.
Zombies when Jebus crucified - kazam.

Paul also undeaded someone, just a few episodes after Jesus did his Traveling Show.

So, as the Hitch points out, the coming back to life after death was quite a banal event in the NT. And let;s not look at the OT - there's much more there.

So, the singular event was, um, rather humdrum, no?

Why should we be impressed again :hehe:
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

Lazarus was a poof, well who knew?
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

I knew I shouldn't have used "poof".

Six in the New Testament:

Lazarus by Jesus Christ (John 11:43-44).

The widow’s son by Jesus. (Luke 7:12-17)

A number of people at the moment of the death of Jesus Christ (Matthew 27:51-53)

The daughter of Jairus by Jesus (Mk 5:39-40)

Eutychus raised back to life through Paul after he fell out of a third-floor window (Acts 20:9-12).

Tabitha by Peter (Acts 9:36-43)

And, let's throw in three Old Testament resurrections for good measure:

The widow's son by Elijah (1 Kings 17:21-24)

The Shunammite's son by Elisha (2 Kings 4:32-35).

Total of nine, of which Jesus is one.

A man whose body had been placed in Elisha's tomb (2 Kings 13:20-21).

See there - old fucking hat.

You die, someone brings you back to life. Jesus would have been a piss-poor magik guy if he couldn't do what was pretty much SOP in them areas. And God raising himself - meh.

So, one more time : what did Godjesusspirithingie do that was speshul?
