I'm kinda short, scrawny, and not at all skilled at the violent arts. For this reason, I can say things to a big experienced boxer and talk all kinds of bullocks at them and it's either funny or tiresome, depending on how witty I am at the time.
Yet if I try the same thing with someone my own size, or especially with someone smaller than me, then it's a different matter entirely, the person would more likely feel threatened and it could lead to an escalation and maybe a scrap.
If I apply that same logic to Allah and the prophet, it indicates that they are perhaps not the towering figures some make them out to be. They seem rather defensive and touchy about a few irreverent words and pictures. They might be human sized, or even smaller.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."
