Or something.

Re: I've decised to read the Bible..again.
There is no evidence of the Exodus. See The Bible Unearthed [Finklestein, Silberman). Exodus goes into some detail about where the Jews camped along their wanderings. Archaeologists have searched these places with a fine comb and found no evidence of settlements anywhere. These guys can pick out a small hunter-gatherer tribe with not much difficulty let alone large groups.

Re: I've decised to read the Bible..again.
I think reading the Bible (so you can argue over it) is a complete waste of time - all the Woo Peddlers will say is that you have not understood it because you have not let Jesus into your heart (or the Tooth Fairy or Whatever).....or some such bollocks. Basically the Bible is used to support whatever view people have - whether the views have come from own reflection or been sold to them by others.
To argue against religion (with a beleiver) via the Bible is like arguing that the Austin Allegro is not the worlds greatest car - with a member of the Austin Allegro owners Club, using a copy of the Allegro handbook supplemented only by their Owners Magazine.
But the Bible is useful in making a religion look stupid by pointing out the nonsense - and then laughing at it / the beleivers, but not for serious debate.

You are most unlikely to convince a "true believer" by pointing to the contradictions and the sheer nonsense the bible contains, but the majority of christians are a not "true believers". Most of them don't even go to mass or other church services, but still believe in the existence of the biblical god because that is the kind of environment they grew up in, and they are the ones who will listen, and perhaps change their minds about the existence of a god as described in the bible.Jesus_of_Nazareth wrote:I think reading the Bible (so you can argue over it) is a complete waste of time - all the Woo Peddlers will say is that you have not understood it because you have not let Jesus into your heart (or the Tooth Fairy or Whatever).....or some such bollocks. I have often thought this. The truly committed are close to qualifying for being committed! The majority of vague believers are either lazy thinkers, prefer their mental comfort zone to remain despite nagging thoughts about it or have just 'always been' of whatever denomination they were born into. My partner was brought up a Catholic, has lapsed, but finds it too troubling to take it on to the next stage. I don't push it.Hermit wrote:You are most unlikely to convince a "true believer" by pointing to the contradictions and the sheer nonsense the bible contains, but the majority of christians are a not "true believers". Not so. I can think of better material for toilet paper. Toilet paper, for example.Crumple wrote:Good for toilet paper but nothing else.

Yeah, paper too thin, you have to use three leaves at a time if you don't want to get shit all over your hands, and too slick, doesn't do a proper job. even newsprint is fitter for that use.

Also, because it's usually quite shiny and tough (comparatively speaking), it will tend to stick to the sides of the pipes rather than shred and disintegrate, which could lead to blockages.

Crumple, then uncrumple and soak in water overnight - dry out and the paper is A1 toilet ready. A three day process.
