You may have noticed I said mixed motives. Sure, people can reasonably give the Israeli government a hard time about their current policies and actions concerning the palestinians.Gawd wrote:And just what is incorrect about my summary, Jim? We are talking about Jews as a group here, not as individuals.JimC wrote:A perfect example of the mixed motives I alluded to earlier...Gawd wrote:I can answer that. Historically, it is due to the Jewish religion where Jews think they are so much better than everyone else because they are the chosen ones. I'm sure you can think of why this would ruffle feathers. Internationally, it is because they are overtly racist and stealing land. While other people move forward, Jews as a group in Israel are moving back to the 17th century in terms of racial behavior.
And sure, the self image of the Jews in Europe, fuelled by their particular brand of delusion (the "chosen people" line) made them separate to other communities around them, which fuelled suspicion. But the subtext of your post, and most of your other posts on the subject, implies that they therefore deserved whatever pogroms and atrocities came their way. In my opinion, your political views on the Middle East are conflated with a pervasive anti-semitic attitude.
