Because you can catch AIDS just as easily from a woman as you can another man?

I think that's accurate, but that's not what my response was about. The evidence shows that a fair number of priests do fuck other men (probably other priests), more than in the general population. It might be something like the prison population, where men fuck and rape other men but are heterosexual on the outside. (That having been said, I haven't personally known an ex-priest who wasn't gay after he left the priesthood or who didn't die of AIDS, which means I don't know any living ex-priests any more, which is probably just as well.)

I would guess it's that, and also that some of them harbor the feelings and/or urges and think of religion as a means of trying to squelch or atone for the feelings and/or urges they believe are sinful.
