Why isn't there a symbolic fish eating sect?

Good luck FBM. I can see you're arguing against a program and not a person - he's trotting out the Society standard issue arguments so it's usually safe to assume there's little independent thought happening there.

Yeah, he's obviously just regurgitating the program. But if you think about it, so am I....PordFrefect wrote:Good luck FBM. Anyway, I guess my final installment wasn't a final installment, after all. I woke up to find this in my inbox:
1) The English author Charles Dickens wrote concerning the Bible :---------- "it is the best book that ever was or will be in the world, Because the Bible teaches you
the best lessons by which any human creator who tries to be truthful and faithfull can possiblely be guided."
2) Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the united states ,called the Bible:------- "I Believe that the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man...... But for it we could not know right from wrong."
3) German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) made this expression:----- “I am convinced that the Bible becomes even more beautiful the more one understands it.”
Indeed, only in God’s Word do we find a sound explanation of where we come from, why we are here, and what the future will bring!—Isaiah 46:9,10
Willkinson, Do you have a sound answer of where we come from , why we are here and what future will bring?
4) In the sermon on the Mount and throughout the rest of its pages , the Bible clearly tells us what to do and what to avoid in order to improve our lot in life.
So practical is its counsel that one educator was moved to say:---- “Although being a high-school counselor with bachelor’s and master’s degrees and having read a large number of books on mental health and psychology, I discovered that the Bible’s counsel on such things as having a successful marriage, preventing juvenile delinquency and how to gain and keep friends is far superior to anything I had read or studied in college."
5) The 19th-century British statesman William E. Gladstone stated: ----
" The Bible is stamped with a speciality of Origin and an immeasurable distance seperates it from all competitiors".
Along similar lines, the 18th-century American statesman Patrick Henry said; ---- " The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed "
Obviously impressed by the Scriptures, French emperor Napoléon Bonaparte commented:---- “The Bible is no mere book, but a Living Creature, with a power that conquers all that oppose it.
6) The New Encyclopædia Britannica calls the Bible---- “probably the most influential collection of books in human history.”
7) The 19th-century German poet Heinrich Heine confessed:------------ “I owe my enlightenment quite simply to the reading of a book . . . the Bible. It is quite rightly called Holy Scriptures. He who has lost his God can rediscover Him in this book.”
8) During that same century, antislavery activist William H. Seward proclaimed:----- “The whole hope of human progress is suspended on the ever-growing influence of the Bible.”
9) British jurist Sir William Blackstone highlighted the influence of the Bible when he said:-----
“Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation [the Bible], depend all human laws, that is to say, no human laws should be suffered to contradict these.”
10) the vericity of the Bible has been assailed from many quarters, but none of these has undermined or weakened its position in the least.
Sir Isaac Newton once said: “I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history whatsoever.” (Two Apologies, by R. Watson, London, 1820, p. 57) Its integrity to truth proves sound on any point that might be tested. Its history is accurate and can be relied upon.
For example, what it says about the fall of Babylon to the Medes and Persians cannot be successfully contradicted (Jer 51:11, 12, 28; Da 5:28),
neither can what it says about people like Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar (Jer 27:20; Da 1:1);
Egyptian King Shishak (1Ki 14:25; 2Ch 12:2);
Assyrians Tiglath-pileser III and Sennacherib (2Ki 15:29; 16:7; 18:13);
the Roman emperors Augustus, Tiberius, and Claudius (Lu 2:1; 3:1; Ac 18:2)
Romans such as Pilate, Felix, and Festus (Ac 4:27; 23:26; 24:27);
nor what it says about the temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Areopagus at Athens (Ac 19:35; 17:19-34).
What the Bible says about these or any other places, people, or events is historically accurate in detail. not myths or superstitions
please, send me any reason why you regard the Bible as myths
I don't think that Issac Newton regard the Bible as myths. I admit that many Christians who prclaims they believe in God in the Middle Ages acted and misbehaved in ungodly way. but the Bible itself is absolutely pure and perfect . Because it is a gift from Jehovah God.

OK, I know I come off arrogant in this, but whatever. I'm hoping it's the last volley of this exchange:
Daniel,
You know, I don't doubt that you are sincere and probably a kind person, so I will take some time to educate you a little, if you're interested, of course.

It doesn't matter how many famous and intelligent people claim that there is a god or believe in the Bible. That is an argumentum ad verecundiam, an appeal to false authority:
Appeal to Authority
Explanation
An appeal to authority is an argument from the fact that a person judged to be an authority affirms a proposition to the claim that the proposition is true.
Appeals to authority are always deductively fallacious; even a legitimate authority speaking on his area of expertise may affirm a falsehood, so no testimony of any authority is guaranteed to be true.
However, the informal fallacy occurs only when the authority cited either (a) is not an authority, or (b) is not an authority on the subject on which he is being cited. If someone either isn’t an authority at all, or isn’t an authority on the subject about which they’re speaking, then that undermines the value of their testimony.
Example
(1) Marilyn vos Savant says that no philosopher has ever successfully resolved the problem of evil.
Therefore:
(2) No philosopher has ever successfully resolved the problem of evil.
This argument is fallacious because Marilyn vos Savant, though arguably an authority, is not an authority on the philosophy of religion. Her judgement that no philosopher has ever successfully resolved the problem of evil therefore carries little evidential weight; if there were a philosopher somewhere that had successfully resolved the problem then there’s a good chance that Marilyn vos Savant wouldn’t know about it. Her testimony is therefore insufficient to establish the conclusion of the argument.
I've told you already that I studied the Bible in university. Your arguments are those of a freshman. I know about Charles Taze Russell and how/why your sect/cult got started.
But none of this has anything to do with whether or not there is a god. The Bible is nothing unless there is a god. I already know the Bible exists, but it's possible that man wrote it, so logically, we need evidence or proof of a god.
I made that clear in both of my previous replies to you, and you have only avoided admitting that you have no evidence. I ask you to be honest and declare whether or not you have direct, indisputable evidence for the existence of your Divine Creator. If so, show me the evidence or show me where I can find it.
If there is no such evidence, it seems reasonable to conclude that somebody made that story up in order to control people who are unskilled thinkers and are afraid of death.
Peace.
