But...but...but, Seth says it's not a systemic issue. So the Taoiseach must be wrong.

Did you just tar my beloved, Catholic granny with the same brush as the rapists?
You bastard!
You bastard!

Well, she shouldn't have been dressed like that.Animavore wrote:Did you just tar my beloved, Catholic granny with the same brush as the rapists?

In fairness one guy on RatSkep did try say all Catholics were complicit. I have to post the subsequent posts below because of the character limitation imposed by my Playstation.

That's the general consensus in Ireland. But nobody is blaming kindly Father Hurley of our local parish.[/quote]TimONeill wrote:Got it. Every Catholic I know is disgusted at the way members of their church has handled this affair and have made that totally clear, in private and in public. But for people here to claim they are "responsible" because they didn't also totally abandon their faith is utterly ludicrous.Animavore wrote:Every Catholic is responsible.
I'm going to bring it up at the next family do, a wedding or whatever, and rub their stupid noses in it.
That was sarcasm in case anyone doesn't recognise it.
Sometimes I see people on Christian forums sneering about how stupid and irrational atheists can be. I think of objecting - then I think of moronic threads like this one.

It should be noted Tim says above, "Every Catholic I know is disgusted at the way members of their church has handled this affair and have made that totally clear, in private and in public (and me too)." Shows you how out of touch 'Irish-American' Bill Donohue and his supporters are.
My personal opinion would that because Catholic Americans live in a melting pot of religious ideas they're possibly more guarded about losing adherents to other churches hence the more aggressive form of defence, playing down and handwaving we see over there.
