In addition to this, many of the best resources are written by theists who also take a sceptical view of history. Knowing the history of the Bible does not seem to affect them. They just say stories of faith, redemption, advesary and dedication are allegory. Dawkins writing such a book, even if he researched it really well, would not have the effect he thinks it would. I've a book, The Bible Unearthed, which says Abraham and Moses never existed. The Exodus is a myth. The Old Testament is propaganda - Yet this doesn't stop it from having glowing endorsements from people like Rowan Williams.

There is no mystery.
Yeh, but who reads them?
That's why I would try to produce a definitive work on the subject, if I were Dawkins.
I said produce, not write. I would get people like Ehrman and White, as well as other scholars, to contribute. Even if they were believers, so long as the only wrote facts.
The objective would not be to push atheism, but just to get the facts out there in readable form, so that people could make up their own minds.

Dawkins isn't qualified to write it, but he could produce the project, and give it publicity.
Just like his name produced a great website, before they trashed it, it could do the same for a project of this nature.

It could even be an online project, constantly evolving as people who really know their subject add to it and improve it, a bit like wiki.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Sorry, you have to type yes and enter submit these days.

And the link does not work. So go to author index, Joseph McCabe and big blue books. He was a monk once. Teaching order, Franciscan? Only real predecessor to Dawkins.
Actually, try Jean Meslier, who wrote the 18th century version of The God Delusion. Available for free on Project Gutenberg. Here's the plain text version you can copy and paste straight into your favourite word processor.

Meanwhile, in answer to the OP ...

Grow a spine and start explaining that evolution is incompatible with the concepts of egalitarianism and tabula rasa.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.
