On TV: Are Christians Being Persecuted?
Re: On TV: Are Christians Being Persecuted?
If one challenges a Christian's view it's not my problem that they cry foul and persecution and then take on a pitiful, manipulative, passive aggressive attitude. The deistic/theistic memes have served their purpose and now need to be eradicated from human perception, the only purpose in retaining knowledge of them is to warn against them. Religion and all its works should be systematically discredited at every opportunity, and the people who support that world view should have that view challenged at every opportunity, if they see that as persecution that is to be expected and totally ignored.

These pompous enrobed clergy wouldn’t know real persecution if they tripped over it. For the first time in their sheltered lives their unearned position of respect and power in western society is being challenged, not violently (as they themselves have dealt with any dissent for most of the last 2000 years), but simply by the rise of reason and common sense, and they are crying foul.

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

Re: On TV: Are Christians Being Persecuted?
How ironic
. Christians get an hour-long (heavily biased) program all to themselves on Easter Sunday just to "investigate" whether or not they're being persecuted.

We get that whine from Christians here in the US too.

Atheists have always argued that this world is all that we have, and that our duty is to one another to make the very most and best of it. ~Christopher Hitchens~

It would be interesting to round up adherents from Christianity, Islam, and Judaism (the trio of dominant monotheistic religions) and relocate them to a deserted island somewhere and let them have at each other (which, to judge by history, as well as by present day events, they're certain to do). I'd let them take all their religious paraphernalia with them: their burkas, crucifixes, yarmulkes, etc. Who knows, in the end, if they've not all killed each other (an unlikely forbearance), a new sort of hybrid religion might emerge. But I doubt that it will be an improvement.
