Yes, you could really wind him up i think. Circular logic, irrationality, you can meet him on his own ground. :demon:
Ressembles more of a swamp, really.

The "Which god" method would be a good opener.
Then you can counter his "we get it with our senses" view by asking him how he was taught... direct neural growth? Or did the info come from HIS SENSES?

Attempting to “discuss” the contradictions in the bible with the indoctrinated faithful is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It only wastes your time and annoys the pig.

This seems to me to be the meat of the matter? Just “excelling” at a subject means nothing. Knowledge is a great tool, but it is only that, and a tool is only as good as the user. You must have the intelligence to apply your knowledge or sadly you are SOL. For example (granted a bit extreme) Kim Peek (The real rain man). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Peek This dude was amazing. He could remember everything he read, but totally lacked the ability to apply any of the vast amounts of knowledge he had. Sadly for your friend his indoctrination into religion allows him to not apply or apply in a very misguided way his intelligence to his knowledge.

On the plus side, he is still young, so perhaps there’s a chance he’ll grow out of it.
"So I'll meet 'im later on
At the place where 'e is gone --
Where it's always double drill and no canteen;
'E'll be squattin' on the coals
Givin' drink to poor damned souls,
An' I'll get a swig in hell from Gunga Din!"
