It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.

You're a nob without doing that.

Re: Behe & Dembski - Winning (plus the Scouts)
I'm glad I never joined the scouts. I always thought that they were lame anyway. I never understood why people needed to dress up in goofy short shorts and bandanas to enjoy the outdoors. My family was always big into backpacking so I had plenty of adventures in the mountains, and I did it all while wearing normal, non embarrassing, outdoor clothing.
I have approximate answers and possible beliefs in different degrees of certainty about different things, but I'm not absolutely sure of anything, and of many things I don't know anything about, but I don't have to know an answer I don't feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in the mysterious universe without having any purpose which is the way it really is as far as I can tell possibly. It doesn't frighten me.

I didn't realise either - my son & daughter were both in the scouts when they were younger, and there was no religious crap at all.Bella Fortuna wrote:You didn't realise this? As stripes says, they just got to do interesting things with knots and stuff...useful skills for later in life.

I was in the CBSI (Catholic Boy Scouts of Ireland). We had to say prayers before meals and everything. And the parish priest used to join us on trips away.
He was one of the nice priests, though. Not one of those rapey ones you hear about.

They say prayers at gatherings here. And it's built into their motto.

Re: Behe & Dembski - Winning (plus the Scouts)
I was in the Boy Scouts and I did a lot of cool stuff I never would have been able to do otherwise. It was the marching and drilling and military type shit that I hated. Not too much god stuff back then. It might have been in an oath or two, along with the flag-waving. But nobody gave a shit about stupid oaths anyway. Not us kids leastways.
Funny that there's such a strong prohibition against homosexuality now. Scouting was always thought of as gay. In fact that's eventually why I left, just short of making Eagle Scout. It was all just too fucking gay for me.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

So, what to do about it? Legislate against the discrimination? I wouldn't agree with that. I think it's up to parents to show a bit of fortitude and solidarity with their own children, and make a stand against the discrimination ... or show disapproval by leaving, and look to other ways to fulfill the desirable experiences that don't include undesirable elements such as religion, ritual, tradition and discrimination. Might not be a single organisation, but a range of specialised activity providers ...pawiz wrote:And they get free use of public buildings/spaces, all while discriminatingBella Fortuna wrote:You didn't realise this?
