Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all. -Douglas Adams

Actually, it's more likely that the vast majority only claimed to have seen it rather than mass hysteria, and that at best it was one nutjob who got the attention of those in authority.

I was part of a group hallucination event as a kid of about 12. It's weird, you do actually see things that appear to be objectively there. Eye witness accounts mean pretty much diddley squat when it comes to testimony, especially of miraculous events. Some occultists at the saner end of the spectrum will even openly admit that any “magickal” event takes place only within the imagination and not within objective reality.

Sort of... more that there are ways and means of tripping balls without drugs: i.e. isolation, sleep deprivation, fasting, repetitive behaviour (such as chanting or ritual), hyperventilation, sex, and holding the body in stress positions. If you can't see the event you simply haven't got out off your gourd enough.Gawdzilla wrote:"The event is translated into a high plane of reality that on the liberated mind can truely see. You're confusing 'tripping balls' with 'insanity'.
