But seriously, context determines everything.

If I'm about to go in to life-threatening surgery and a good friend says "I'll pray for you" then it might be idiotically pointless but it's hardly arrogant or patronising.

Me "unwanted love is scary and makes me all insecure , could you please tell him that?"

You have to believe or their position is threatened. They are insecure enough to worry about that.
