Religious stories....

Post by Deep Sea Isopod » Sun Apr 11, 2010 6:16 pm

I was gonna post this in the "stage and Screen" forum, but thought it could extend...
I am a fan of the cult 70's Japanese TV show MONKEY.
Intro is pure class....

For the past few years I have been the proud owner of the full set on DVD including 13 untranslated episodes.
This is what really got me into studying religion.
I found Buddhism fascinating.
"Buddhism is an atheistic religion"- His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
I'm sure I mentioned it somewhere that I was a Naturalistic Pantheist for a while. Also an "atheistic religion" So Buddhism kinda had some appeal to me.
Anyway, these stories about "Monkey" were based on a very old book "Journey to the west" I wont go into these stories just now, but it got me thunkin'.
What other GREAT religious stories are out there?

I'm talking about stuff that really would appeal to someone who wants action and adventure!
Pagan stories that appealed to you as a kid, mayhaps?
I run with scissors. It makes me feel dangerous Image
