"So what" is that this fact directly contradicts your assertion that the new testament has truly superseded the old. I guess christians could still retain the old testament as a historical appendage to the bible, if only for traditional and sentimental reasons. However, when priests and pastors use an old testament text in their sermons, they treat it exactly in the same way as a reading from the new testament, i.e. as the word of god. I suppose most of the mainstream preachers are careful to cherry pick the least offensive parts (they tend to leave out gleeful accounts of bears eating children that irritate prophets). However, some of the fire and brimstone preachers will happily include the goriest bits they can, especially if it suggests homosexuals are going to roast in hell...
