Need more atheism
Re: Need more atheism
With all this franchising of atheism I don't know what to think.
I'm a don't give a fuck, laissez-faire, atheist. The sort of bloke who doesn't take out my rational cock and shove it down peoples throats.
I'm not quite an anti-anti-theist, but I do find them ignorant, pretentious, self-assuming, bombastic, haughty and by and large egocentric pastiches of a 19th century mindset.
Oh my.. I've got off on a bit of a rant. But I rather wish these anti-theists would take care to distinguish themselves as 'militant atheists' rather than 'atheists'. That little adjective serves as a nice distinction.

What's wrong with that? 'Certainty' has killed far too many people.Tero wrote:Yes but Rum, if we don't cultivate atheism, the people will think we are some wimpy agnostics.

I'm an atheistic anti-theist. I was anti-theist before I ever thought of myself as atheistic.PordFrefect wrote:With all this franchising of atheism I don't know what to think.

Re: Need more atheism
I believe we need more atheism everywhere too. Getting the message right for incorporating everywhere is tricky. I'm working on it. There has to be a way or a place we can get to where we can just drop atheist language all over and it's about who I am versus being preachy.
Also, I maintain that atheists have more potential to have good, safe (ish), social fun than any other group because they should overlap the novelty of whatever is fun with the rationalism for the safe choices.

If everybody was atheist the kings couldn't claim "by grace of god."

If everybody was an atheist, fraudulent people would have to be more articulate about how their pseudoscience is powered.

Re: Need more atheism
I am quite prepared to believe in any god whose existence can be PROVED to my satisfaction.
A corollary of this is that I am totally unwilling to believe in ANY god that has so far been presented to me by ANY "believer".
So, to god-believers, I say - come up with something original: something that explains rather than defies the laws of physics; something that explains rather than denies evolution; and, preferably, something that offers free beer! Do this and I will be your biggest, your most vocal, your loudest and most obnoxious advocate!
But, if you can't offer me a god that in any way meshes with what centuries of human study have managed to throw into the ring, then I am forced to conclude that either (a) no such god exists or (b) that god is a total wanker that has deliberately set out to confuse mankind.
So, either (a) you are wrong in being a believer or (b) you worship a wanker. Either way, FUCK OFF!!11!!
There - atheism, in a nutshell.

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.
