Don't people who self-identify this way usually claim to be spiritual but not religious?

BTW the reason for my orginal post was a) because I was bored and b) because I figured their may well be a religion (or 2) for these people - just that I hadn't heard of it (or simply hadn't realised what they actually believed in / didn't beleive in).

but mainly it was about a) :hehe:

Still think there is a gap in the market (££££ ) for those who beleive in God - but without the Christian nonsense (and without going "foreign"). Christianity without Christ :hehe: .....mainstream, dull and with no great requirements (apart from common sense, and even without gotta be going some to get sent to Hell).....with Heaven / everlasting life tacked onto the end of it  .......just have to work out how to monetise that :ask:

But knowing my luck the Scientologists (or Mormons?) have probably beaten me to it.

IMO the persuading folks that beleiving stuff like God tortured his own son to death and is also the same fella who is full of good will and happy thoughts is going to be an ever harder sell in future years......at least I hope so!

Yes!, this is what I think I am getting at

But to my mind it doesn't make them a Christian (or a Muslim. or a Jew) - but it would be nice to be able to give them a name (ideally a nice one!) for when discussions arise, IMO more unsettling for someone to point out they are not in fact a Christian but a "???????", rather than simply challenging the whole God belief stuff (as that is easier for folk to simply dismiss).

It's the same as me attending a Football match to watch Man U vs Liverpool - simply attending (and even cheering along / singing rude songs :hehe: ) doesn't make me a supporter of either.......attending all the home games of Liverpool and living down the road from the ground would make me far more likely to be a Liverpool supporter, but no guarantee I would grow up even liking football.

They're like hipsters. If you brand the product, there's a pretty good chance of them not buying it any more.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I don't see the point of singling out Bible-believers, myself. I just call them all "theists" and be done with it. There's bigger fish to fry, to my mind.

Not sure if it's important to me :ask: - just that I suspect far more people around who simply beleive in God than those who also beleive in the Jesus stuff.......but for cultural reasons (and upbringing) think that the Christain version of God has to have Jesus attached (and all that goes with it)......but are techinically therefore not really "Christians".
As pointed out, Muslims believe in Abraham's god, as do Jews. Neither faith regards Jesus as divine, although Islam does regard him as a divinely-inspired prophet. So that's about 1.2 billion people there.

I'm not very sure about people who self-identify as "Christians" while denying his godhead and his blood sacrifice; but if I ever met anyone holding that particular grouping of views, I'd certainly be skeptical of their ability to collate information meaningfully.

In principle. But half of them are liberal not-so-theists and atheists. I was, they did not kick me out.
