Regarding the opening post: My dad used to send me religious email garbage all the time. I deleted most of it right away. And the few friends that I had that were religious did try to convert me, but not too frequently, thank god.

I go case by case with the blessings.

Some people really are expressing a desire that the supreme ruler of all the universe keep my sneezing in check. Most say it because it's the polite thing to say. The most annoying people say it because they are the kind of folks Jesus refers to in the first few verses of the sixth chapter of Matthew.

Sorry, Seeth, but religously based comments like that are propaganda, and are solely for gaining Heaven Points(tm) which can be traded in for a Get My Ass Out Of Hell(tm) card.

So what if they are, numbnutz? If you're an adult, not a petulant child, you are able to ignore propaganda. And since they have a perfect, and constitutionally protected right to espouse that "propaganda," and you have NO right to suppress it, the rational thing to do is look upon such harmless expressions of faith as what they are: well-meaning, harmless social lubricants.

We have this exchange student. He's one of the lutheran atheists. Now my wife thinks we should attend the Unitarian Christmas event so he sees some American monkeybusiness. It is cute with the assorted jesus mary joseph sheperds and shit. Especially the 20 shepherds and 20 sheep. But it was only funny the first time.
