Grady McMurtry

Has anybody got any information on this guy? I've recently had a discussion about him with a fundie but I did not have enough info for a proper debate, if you can call it that. I have been googling but there is so much crap out there about him I'm not sure what is true and what isn't. The person I was talking to said that RD has refused to debate with him on RTV about his beliefs, I can't find any info on this. He also informed me that 'Dr' Mcmurtry will debate with anybody about what he believes and has had live debates with many evolutionary scientists...I can find no evidence of this anywhere either.
Really all I want to say to this guy is that he's talking complete bollocks and so is his hero Mcmurtry, but as he is a colleague of my OH I feel I should try to be a bit better informed for my next discussion.

I think the Grady McMurtry that you mean Feck and Audley is this bloke's father, although he apparently says he isn't.

This is the Grady McMurtry I have been told about who seems to be getting lots of new follwers in the UK since he has been appearing on some of the religious cable channels.

Why on earth would Dawkins want to debate with such a loony? There are MILLIONS of religious loonies who want the chance to shout Dawkins down, and they could easily do it, because Dawkins speaks quietly, and also because the public as a rule don't know fact from fiction.

Scientists CARE about the truth and accuracy of what they say. Loonies will say ANYTHING, they don't care about being disproved later, and so long as they speak loudly and confidently, they can give people the impression that they know what they are talking about, and 'win' a debate in the eyes of an audience.

So there is no real future in debating these people. It's a lose-lose situation. Unless you are debating in front of real scientists who know the facts. And that doesn't happen too often.

Dawkins is in the lucky position of being the world's best known atheist. He has the luxury of restricting himself to debating with people who know a bit, and have integrity, and he can say no to the bullshitters.

I totally agree mistermack, I was just triyng to find out as much as I could before talking to him again. I did put him straight on a few things at out next meeting, and strangely, ever since then, he has been avoiding me.
