About to cry...

Post by Red Katie » Wed Nov 04, 2009 11:11 pm

I just found out that Maine voted to decrease human rights. The "people" vetoed the same-sex marriage law that passed the legislature and was signed by the governor. Unbearably sad.

A blow against progress. But for every forward step, there are usually a few stumbles backwards along the way. Chin up Katie. :console:

I know. But sometimes the stumbles are just... too much.

Maybe I could write an editorial to a Maine newspaper suggesting that since the voters there are doing so much to protect the sanctity of marriage, they could vote to outlaw all heterosexual divorce as well.

I believe in ridiculing the ridiculous.

Then again, the sort of people who voted to overturn the gay marriage law would probably pause to seriously consider that idea.

Until they realised that they're the ones who need it most, statistically.

I still firmly believe that you should have to pass an IQ test before you get a vote! :lay:

Marriage is for suckers anyway.

Who wants to sign my petition to ban marriage of any kind due to its repressive and slavish nature?

The fight for civil rights is never easy. It's very disappointing news though, I agree.

We have not given up the fight however. :mob:
