The War

Post by aufbahrung » Tue Mar 14, 2023 6:28 pm

Somewhere to discus the NATO/Russia war as it occurs in real time.

Feel free to speculate Russia just made the first move on the NATO/Russia chess board

I can't confirm the presence of sentient AI but the drone was downed deliberately

The what? Last I recall, Ukraine is not a member of NATO. Did I miss a memo?

I think staff should rename this thread to "special military action."

Russia says that the drone, "went into uncontrollable flight with a loss of altitude and collided with water surface." This is somewhat reminiscent of how certain critics of Putin's Ukraine policy went into uncontrolled flight out of hotel windows and impacted the road surface.

It's actually reminiscent of how some WW2 British fighter pilots dealt with V1 (flying bombs). They'd catch up with them over the channel (after a fast, shallow dive), approach from the side and use their wing to flip the V1 by touching its wing, whereupon it would crash, hopefully into the sea...

President DeSantis will just give Ukraine to Putin. He can wait that long.
DeSantis goes wobbly on Ukraine, a gift to Putin
DeSantis said the war in Ukraine, the front line in a global contest between democracy and dictatorship, is not in the “vital interests” of the United States. He called it a “territorial dispute,” suggesting there are no grand moral or strategic stakes in this fight, just neighbors arguing over a broken fence at the border.

MAGA leaders like Speaker Kevin McCarthy have signaled their intention to reduce aid, and polls show that support among Republican voters is crumbling.

A year ago, only 9 percent of Republicans favored reducing aid to Ukraine. That number has jumped to 40 percent today

Territorial. Next, China and Taiwan, then North Korea and South Korea, Russia and Finland, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia. Its territorial until republican interests are compromised.

Leopard tanks have been lined up at the border all along. As soon as Putin is deposed...

Nonono. No aggressive war after you join NATO and that's only a few days away.
