This series of corrupt political manoeuvrings is starting to make me think that Scot's hyperbole about America's corruption and lack of true democracy is starting to look closer and closer to the mark...

Well anything's possible, but I'll remind you that Scot predicted that Trump would win the election last year.

I've been hearing plenty about GOP machinations, and take them seriously, but the dog that hasn't barked is the latent power that Biden possesses as President.

He can shutdown their game rather tyrannically using the powers his predecessors have claimed. Think about the power to unilaterally declare someone an enemy combatant and detain them indefinitely without trial. How about extraordinary rendition to a black site? Remember Obama executing an American citizen without a trial?

Personally, I'd rather endure another four years of Trump than have that happen. Hopefully, I'm not alone and you have underestimated the resiliency of our system. I'd rather see the ordinary processes of our election system prevail, than what could happen if the GOP really does what we fear they will do. This is a minority after all, and they know it.

I'm sure you would, Joe, and so would I. I don't think that the corrupt attitude towards cynically manipulating the electoral system dominates the entire US, but it only has to work in enough states to allow Republicans to dominate the senate and house elections in '22, and the presidential election in '24, whether by Trump or a Trump clone...

Jim, it makes me think of what an elderly friend told a young would be mugger who threatened to kill her. She asked him, "And then what?"

One thing about our system I've learned through decades of study is that no defeat is permanent in the American system. For all of the high language and noble sentiments, the Framers seem to have had stability as their main goal. I can't prove it, but I think some of those guys may have read Machiavelli.

The GOP may win the day in '22 and '24, but then what?

man, I'd love to see our retirees bringing their guns to megachurches on sunday and giving themselves strokes from sheer fervor and despair at the idea that they're gonna miss the end of the world when it's just so close...

You can't just transport Florida to Kansas and expect it to thrive. Kansas can only ever be just so florida.

You bet? You can send Kansas to Florida on the back of a tornado, and I bet that a young lady with silver slippers would send Florida to Kansas by clicking her heels and chanting there's no place like home.

Praise Jebus! I'm so relieved the land of my forefathers has not been poisoned by that affliction.

Maybe, but more likely people will remember why they voted the cunts out.
