Trump in Iowa:

The rally included numerous references to World War II General George Patton. The opening scene from the film Patton played on a big screen ahead of Trump taking the stage. “Do you think General Patton would have left early from Afghanistan?” Trump asked the crowd, neglecting the fact that his administration negotiated the terms of withdrawal, setting a date of May 2021 — which Biden pushed back to August — and agreeing to release 5,000 imprisoned Taliban fighters. (“George C. Scott, did he win the Academy Award [for playing Patton]? Did the movie [win]? I think so,” Trump later said.)

The former president then mocked Biden, saying he frequently doesn’t know what state he’s in, even though within minutes of saying that, Trump mixed up Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Woman at Trump rally today says her whole family has “turned liberal” and they hate Trump. Then breaks down crying and says, “I have complete faith that this man is going to basically save the world. Not just us, everyone.”

No Hillary in jail, no wall. Disgraced president recycles his failure into campaign slogan.

Republicans know: voters forget all they said. Maybe not what Trump said but the rest.
CNN
Grassley continued bluntly: "There's no doubt in my mind that President Trump's language was extreme, aggressive, and irresponsible," sharing his view that all involved in the attack -- including Trump -- "must take responsibility for their destructive actions that day."

Flash forward to Saturday, and there was Grassley beaming as Trump offered a "complete and total endorsement for re-election" for the 88-year-old Senator. Grassley responded, "If I didn't accept the endorsement of a person that's got 91 percent of the Republican voters in Iowa, I wouldn't be too smart."

I had to defend my claim against a Ratz on FB:
To Jack .Well yes, in this case where is no other oral drug. I was speaking in general terms. This drug was developed for ebola and the path tox is done. But ifvwe are stuck with covid pandemics, another drug will replace this in 1-2 years. And it makes Merck look like good guys, so it will pass FDA. Unlike flu with dozens of variants this virus is an ideal target for big pharma.

Got half way thru Woodward book. After election, but before Jan 6th. Trump is absolutely sure that nobody can get over 74 million votes. Biden must have cheated with at least 7 million votes.

And also, I'm older than Mike Pence. He does not qualify for social security yet.

Some dude:
“He will not win,” Luntz said. “If Trump runs again he will be nominated by the Republicans, but he will never be elected president because there are too many people who hate him.

“Trump is the most popular Republican by far, but he can’t win a general election because in the end politics is about persona as much as it is about policy, and his persona is unacceptable to too many people.”

Luntz has worked as a strategist and pollster for the Republican Party for almost 30 years and is regarded as one of the world’s most incisive commentators.

He says as a result of the Trump presidency, he is no longer a Republican – and he also no longer feels like a US citizen, saying he remains worried about whether America can be fixed.

“I look at my country as an outsider, not as an insider or a practitioner or even a citizen,” he said.

Abbott relied heavily on the work of Luntz to destroy political support for a carbon price; in 2001, Luntz advised George W. Bush to refer to global warming as climate change.

“I was trying to say the science wasn’t settled – prove it,” Luntz says. He says this is now his biggest regret.

The usual corruption, with a twist.

White Tiger and Cheetah Furs: A Mess of Trump Gift Exchanges
The Saudi royal family showered Donald Trump and his entourage on his first trip abroad as president with dozens of presents, including three robes made with white tiger and cheetah fur, and a dagger with a handle that appeared to be ivory.

Little that followed went right.

A White House lawyer determined that possession of the furs and dagger most likely violated the Endangered Species Act, but the Trump administration held onto them and failed to disclose them as gifts received from a foreign government.

On the last full day of Trump’s presidency, the White House handed them over to the General Services Administration — the wrong agency — rather than the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which seized the gifts this summer.

At that point, there was a surprise.

The furs, from an oil-rich family worth billions of dollars, were fake.

“Wildlife inspectors and special agents determined the linings of the robes were dyed to mimic tiger and cheetah patterns and were not comprised of protected species,” said Tyler Cherry, a spokesperson for the Interior Department, which oversees the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Officials at the Saudi Embassy in Washington declined to comment.
Somehow, that seems appropriate.
