Now that Trump is officially Biden’s political opponent in the 2024 election, Attorney General Merrick Garland will need to decide whether to appoint a special counsel to take over the daily management of the Trump investigations. This could help to create even more distance between Biden appointees like Garland in the upper echelons of the Justice Department and any potential decisions about whether to charge Trump with a crime.
Was hasn't he already been charged, tried and executed?
white house trials have been an utter failure, but he's now charged with demolishing the GOP, and we're waiting for conservative fanatics to assassinate him for what he did.

Well, it is National Enquirer style. Maybe a few less alien abductions and three headed cows.

Poor Trump. I know he loves his rallies and will now have two years of rallies. But he is such a bad loser, and the stealing elections will not work in 2024. He will lose. Only if Joe Biden dies before election day (and is the candidate) will Trump win.

Trump now running country via the house. Any bills will be vetoed, but it does not stop them producing bills that DeSantis will eventually sign.
McCarthy’s bravado discloses a hint of insecurity. The talk of the steakhouses is that he will not last long.

Donald Trump’s ragtag minions of horned madmen and militias could not seize the Capitol on January 6. But when the 118th Congress is sworn in on 3 January, Trump’s coup will have broken through more than a police barrier to enter a new phase. That’s because Trump will, for all intents and purposes, become the de facto speaker of the House. If and when Nancy Pelosi ever so gently passes the gavel to Kevin McCarthy, “it would be hard not to hit her with it,” McCarthy said to the raucous laughter of a Republican crowd in 2021. The ultimate power will be held in the hands of Trump. From his gilded tropical palace, he will phone dictates to Jim Jordan and other acolytes who will transform the House of Representatives into his 2024 presidential campaign committee, virtual law firm and bludgeon for revenge. The House will be his hammer.

Trump's rather lame announcement paved the way for a new candidate. Unfortunately they only have Pence to throw in.
However, Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist and CNN political analyst, said Trump’s subdued 2024 launch on Tuesday didn’t scare rivals off and noted it was beginning to dawn on many party members that the ex-president was a liability.

“A lot of folks are looking for something new, or at least a minimum, they are not quite sure they want to do Donald Trump a third time,” Jennings told CNN’s Erin Burnett.

I did like him saying, "In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for President of the United States."

Continuing on like this is something like self-destructive behavior surely…he’s nobody again, and it could stay that way.

But he's the focal point of so many people's hopes and dreams, lusts and passions - part prophet, messiah, avenging angel for the huddled masses and part biddable stooge, demented papal poster boi for the corporate/anarchist class. And he knows how to draw attention in a political context where attention is the currency. He'll run, and everyone will talk about him constantly, for good and ill, Tero's Twitter feed will start scrolling like the credits at the end of a sitcom, and soon he'll seem like the only game in town.

They're going to have to shrink the text to fit MAGAGA on hats. Or hyphenate it.
