The prosecutor investigating efforts by Donald Trump and his allies to challenge the 2020 election results in Georgia said this week that her team has heard credible allegations that serious crimes have been committed and that she believes some individuals may see jail time.

Willis has suggested that this complex of activity — from organizing Trump electors to making false statements to applying pressure on local election officials could be prosecuted under Georgia’s conspiracy and anti-racketeering laws.

State anti-racketeering laws, known as Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act or RICO, were enacted decades ago as a legal tool to fight organized crime.

(WaPo)
It would be fitting to see Trump fall to a RICO charge. Take on the king!

Prediction: Within a week, the DOJ will appeal to the higher court. It can't go any worse than under Judge Cannon who seems to think the papers belong to Trump. The case is not about Trump being charged, it is merely about whose papers are they?
Cannon seems to have no idea how classified documents work
One other line in Cannon’s opinion is worth noting. In its motion from last week, the Justice Department argued that “the Court’s order would irreparably harm the government and the public by unnecessarily requiring the government to share highly classified materials with a special master.”

As the Supreme Court held in Department of the Navy v. Egan (1988), “For ‘reasons . . . too obvious to call for enlarged discussion,’” determinations about who should be allowed to see classified documents “must be committed to the broad discretion of the agency responsible, and this must include broad discretion to determine who may have access to it.”

But Cannon’s order effectively brings the special master, who does not have a “need to know” the information in the classified documents that is grounded in national security concerns, inside the community of individuals who are allowed to see specific highly classified documents. That places her order at odds with Egan, and with ordinary practices governing the nation’s most highly guarded secrets.

In any event, the most important upshot of Cannon’s order is that DOJ is now free to seek relief from a higher court. It is likely that they will do so as fast as their lawyers can draft the appropriate motion.

God is using Trump to ensure the righteous understand His judgment against the US was just. Because of Trump, when God flattens America no one will ask why so many perished, only why it took so long. :crumple:

Trump judge Cannon may be playing this smartly. She has been loyal to Trump but soon this is out of her hands. Ot will go to the appeals court and is out of her hands. She does not need to deal with it but stays on Trump's good side.

The DOJ appeal was on TV, to the higher court.

No, I like law. I think at some point when lab jobs in the midwest were going weird I considered both law school and pharmacy school. I would have been a patent lawyer. You write patents, you rarely end up in court. The patent office may reject your claim, then you rewrite it.

Whatever, it’s not my business anyway.

I do hope he dies soon. He’s got to right!?

The appeals court has just given Trump's lawyers a deadline to respond to the DoJ's appeal of next tuesday, Sept. 20.

It may go back to the lousy Cannon court with the top secret documents removed and special master still in place.
