Re: The state of the UK
It was the one about how Holland is excellent and the UK is terrible, if that helps.

Re: The state of the UK
Where is the country of Holland? Like the country of Kent it does not exist as does the country of Yorkshire.
Well I know which country I prefer to be an OAP in and that is Nederland by any measure but of course Huxley you have YOHO on that surely.

"The name Holland is also frequently used informally to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands"
Wiki.
Informal is good enough for me.
I'm sure there's plenty of better places to be an OAP but I think I'd probably prefer somewhere a bit warmer.

No its not. You are just old fashioned by three hundred years. The Dutch government carried out a campaign two years ago to remind the media the correct name of the country.Clinton Huxley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:21 am"The name Holland is also frequently used informally to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands"

The services provided here for OAP's is far superior to most non Northern European social democracies. The weather is warm enough. More warmth less services plus you get unwanted additions.

The member with the long double barrel name tried to troll me and I replied to him.

People in Holland don't know the name of the country they live in? A shocking indictment of the Hollandaise education system.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 3:19 pmNo its not. Ok, but I'm just trying to find out if the board is borked in some way. That's why I'm asking.Scot Dutchy wrote:The member with the long double barrel name tried to troll me and I replied to him.

Re: The state of the UK
It may not be. On a few occasions I thought a post of mine had mysteriously disappeared. What actually happened on those occasions was this:Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 5:12 pmOk, but I'm just trying to find out if the board is borked in some way. 1) I right-clicked the quote button, which opened a new tab.
2) I replied to the post I was quoting, perhaps with a link to an article, video or picture.
3) I clicked on preview and checked if the links worked as they should.
4) When everything turned out to be exactly as it should be I clean forgot that I was just looking at the preview of the post and closed the tab.
Most of the time I have managed to retrieve the tab with the unsent post before it disappears for good after wondering where the fuck my reply disappeared to, but it can be time-consuming, and having once again noticed that I have acted like a prematurely demented fool that I probably am now is definitely unpleasant.

I have done that Hermit but this was different. Both posts disappeared.
