Meanwhile the hopeful "it's over crowd" are backtracking in a number of areas. I understand complete that the world is moving into local condition management ....but it is far far from over.
Kid and partner have it now but triple vaxxed and while my son with a couple of health challenges, Type One diabetes and brain cancer under treatment seems okay his partner is on verge of hospital visit with no co-morbities other than a bit too round. Both in thirties.

Latest daily figures make an interesting comparison between Australia and the USA:
Oz: 45,999 new cases and 34 deaths
USA: 39,583 new cases and 372 deaths
What's going on?

Testing regimes will have an effect. What's the testing regime in the US? In Australia recently (or perhaps it was just QLD?) you have to get a referral from a doctor to get a PCR test now. So testing in general will be down in Australia (or just QLD?). And in some states it's compulsory to report to authorities on a positive RAT test. So a lot of our positives will be coming from rat tests in NSW. Is it compulsory to report a positive RAT in the US? I doubt that, because... FREEDUM!

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So, the implication is that there are many more unreported cases in the US than in Oz, which could go some way to explaining the huge difference in the ratio of deaths to case numbers. Sounds plausible, but maybe there are other factors as well...pErvinalia wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 3:32 amTesting regimes will have an effect. What's the testing regime in the US? If true, and it seems reasonable to assume, then someone should look at the reasons why some people aren't inclined to report a position test.JimC wrote:So, the implication is that there are many more unreported cases in the US than in Oz, which could go some way to explaining the huge difference in the ratio of deaths to case numbers. The latest from the CDC still has us doing well here.
It's interesting to note, and I haven't seen it brought up, but our hospital ICUs are constantly full --without covid patients.

--no such thingWhat's the testing regime in the US?
According to the CDC the testing where I'm at in the US is sufficient to catch most new cases, and to save you the trouble, I'm in Trump country.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread right away...

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
All legal regs on masks and social distance etc became voluntary in Scotland yesterday. Went the supermarket and most people wearing them (+me) including all the staff I saw. Might take a few weeks to break the habit I guess - but then again, it never felt like an inconvenience to most people.
