Various restrictions and mandates are now being discarded here in Victoria as well. For the moment, I'll continue to wear my mask in shops, probably until I have my 4th jab in a few weeks. Flu jab happening today...

The testing rate here looks good and about like it did last week.

You can find out how the community level is set by visiting the CDC's website. The most encouraging news to me continues to be fewer cases of severe illness.

More than seven in 10 people in England have been infected with Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The estimate, the most detailed analysis to date, suggests 71% of people in England had caught Covid between 27 April 2020 and 11 February 2022. The proportion is likely to have risen further in the most recent Omicron wave, during which there was the highest prevalence at any time in the pandemic, including in older age groups that had previously had relatively low rates of infection.

Prof James Naismith, the director of the Rosalind Franklin Institute at the University of Oxford, said: “The total number of infected people was rising rapidly when the data stopped. The bottom line is the majority of people in the UK have had Covid-19.”...

Yep. That's the thinking here too.
Much of that has changed. Most recently, the CDC updated their COVID framework to capture what they call “COVID-19 Community Levels.” These changes reflect the decreased risk of severe illness and death due to vaccines. This new CDC framework and its recommendations prioritizes reducing severe illness and the strain on healthcare systems.
They mention vaccines here and natural immunity elsewhere.

...and you live in utopia.

The lab tests are still free here. Unfortunately the free home tests sent out are shit. We never counted those anyway, still what a waste of money!

We'll probably see a rapid decline in testing anyway now that so few are becoming seriously ill.

cautionary .....
We’re sick of thinking about COVID. But here are the key questions we still need to answer
New variants, waning immunity, the prevalence of long COVID and people’s new habits will all factor into a future that is very uncertain.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-06/ ... /101043014
The World Health Organization (WHO) says nearly 15 million people were killed either by COVID-19 or by its impact on overwhelmed health systems during the past two years, more than double the official death toll of just over 5.4 million.

There were 14.9 million excess deaths associated with COVID-19 by the end of 2021, the UN body said on Thursday.

The official count of deaths directly attributable to COVID-19 and reported to WHO in that period, from January 2020 to the end of December 2021, was slightly more than 5.4 million.

Excess mortality figures relied on by the WHO reflect the people who died of COVID-19 as well as those who died as an indirect result of the outbreak, including people who could not access healthcare for other conditions when systems were overwhelmed during huge waves of infection.

It also accounts for deaths averted during the pandemic, for example, because of the lower risk of traffic accidents during lockdowns.

Those figures are based on country-reported data and statistical modelling, and the WHO did not immediately break down the figures to distinguish between direct deaths from COVID-19 and others caused by the pandemic.

Fairy data. They don't even know what a Covid death is. Nobody can even agree on it. In the Netherlands, hardly anyone died from Covid, and when they did it was because they had asthma or heart trouble and were going to die anyway, and yet the dictators still closed all the terraces.
