We're back down to 150-250 new cases per day for the past week or two. It's still a lot for 1.3 million in population, but I'm glad it didn't keep careening out of control.
Maine is vaccinating by age only (plus essential workers of any age), with no exceptions for people with underlying conditions. What a letdown. I'll have to wait until May in the current plan. Hopefully they're right that age is a bigger factor than underlying conditions. The two go hand in hand, so I wonder how informative the data is without specialized studies.

Odd how nobody has caught on what's really happening with this alleged pandemic. :prof: It was manufactured by the humans at the request of our intergalactic overlords. It is not very deadly, but the vaccines will protect you from this and other fairly innocent strains. The main purpose with all this is to find out which humans will be spared in the future, believe it, or not. The compliant ones are being sought out right now, and the vaccination is the test. There are people who will not accept vaccination, they will be dealt with in the near future after the vaccination programs are complete. You see, the next strain of Covid is going to come about then, and that will have a near perfect mortality rate as the manufacturers will ensure its success. This vaccination taking place right now will protect you 100%, the antivaxers will perish, and the alien overlords will reveal themselves. The dead will be used to hatch the alien nestlings, and eventually be consumed by them. :food: The rest of us will be exhibited in zoos and game farms, although we will not be aware of that, as the overlords are masters of illusion. Well, things could be worse, Trump might be elected again. Interesting times ahead, fersure. :coffee: You have been warned. :smoke:

Not quite the zoo hypothesis, yet quite a bit more.

Two interesting exceptions to that, Tero. Japan, of course, stands out. Also, Australia, not on the list because of its population size, has 35 deaths per million, less than most of that list.

MSNBC show was proud to report how many vaccinations the US is doing under Biden, and not even Republican governors were able to slow this down.

Chumocracy hits again.

No evidence £22bn test-and-trace scheme cut Covid rates in England, say MPs
Spending watchdog challenges ministers to justify the ‘staggering investment of taxpayers’ money’

There is no evidence to show that the government’s £22bn test-and-trace programme to combat Covid-19 in England contributed to a reduction in coronavirus infection levels, parliament’s spending watchdog has concluded.

In a report which examined the rush to invest in the scheme, the cross-party public accounts committee has challenged ministers to justify the “staggering investment of taxpayers’ money” and criticised the use of private consultants who are paid up to £6,624 a day.

The programme, which has a budget that exceeds that of the Department for Transport, is run by Dido Harding, who was appointed by the health secretary, Matt Hancock, last year. At the time, the prime minister, Boris Johnson, said the country would have as “world-beating” system.

The timing of the report’s conclusions is an embarrassment for the government as it continues to refuse to give a pay increase of more than 1% to health workers.

Ministers had justified the vast expenditure on preventing a second national lockdown, but – questioning the programme’s effectiveness – MPs who compiled the report noted that England is now living under its third.

Meg Hillier, the chair of the committee, said the enormous amounts spent on the scheme leaves the impression that the public purse has been used like a cashpoint.

“Despite the unimaginable resources thrown at this project, test and trace cannot point to a measurable difference to the progress of the pandemic, and the promise on which this huge expense was justified – avoiding another lockdown – has been broken, twice,” she said. “British taxpayers cannot be treated by the government like an ATM machine. We need to see a clear plan and costs better controlled.”
"Wat is het een gezellig boel hier".
