HOUSTON (KTRK) - Police are investigating after a suspected “peeping Tom” outside a Houston home was shot to death by a woman inside.

A woman in north Houston says she was frightened when she saw a strange man looking into her bedroom window around 11 p.m. Friday night.

Believing she was in danger, she got her rifle and opened fire in self-defense.

Police say the woman fired several shots through her wall, at least one of which apparently hit the suspect in the torso.

Investigators believe the man staggered a short distance then died at the scene.

Police say there’s been no decision yet as to whether any charges will be filed.

Their master's voice. Noting that the malevolent lump of rancid lard won the state.

'Texas launches review of 2020 election, hours after Trump call'
Texas’ secretary of state office announced it had launched a review of the 2020 election in four of the state’s largest counties on Thursday evening, hours after former President Donald Trump sent an open letter to GOP Gov. Greg Abbott demanding one.

The secretary of state office said a “full and comprehensive forensic audit” had begun in Dallas, Harris, Tarrant and Collin counties. It was not immediately clear what the exact process of the review would be. “Forensic audit” is not a well-defined term among election experts, but Trump and his supporters have latched on to it in an effort to further his lies about his electoral loss in 2020.

The office did not release any further details about the process, other than it expected the Legislature to provide funds for it. President Joe Biden carried Dallas, Harris and Tarrant last November, while Trump carried Collin en route to his statewide win.

“Donald Trump ordered Gov. Abbott to audit the 2020 Texas election and, like clockwork, TX just initiated an audit of Harris County voters,” Harris County’s Chief Executive Lina Hidalgo, a Democrat, wrote in a tweet. “These fake audits are an affront to all voters, & pure pandering to the kinds of extremists that stormed our Capitol.”

Fancy hunting a kangaroo? Or a zebra? In Texas, you can pay to play
In ‘canned’ hunts, captive animals are shot for meat and trophies but ranchers say they need to make money and exotic animals offer a steady revenue

In the rolling expanse of rural west Texas, a Southern white rhinoceros named Killian has learned to come when he’s called. Killian stands there like a big fat puppy, hoping someone will dare to pet him. He and his rhino companion, Sebastian, like rubdowns far better than treats.

We are standing on Ox Ranch, a more than 18,000-acre property in Texas crawling with exotic animals. Some are gunned down by paying guests for trophies. Others, like Killian and Sebastian, live here just for show. There are an estimated 8,000 animals on the land – but if CEO Jason Molitor has to pick his favorites, it’s the two rhinos.

“That’s a good boy,” Molitor says to Killian. “I know I didn’t bring you no food, but you eat too much.”

Owned by tech entrepreneur Brent Oxley, the remote hunting ranch is a spectacle of contradictions, a wonder of nature that at times feels eerily unnatural. Just like in much of Texas, white-tailed and axis deer roam. But so do zebras. Kangaroos laze about, thousands of miles from Australia. And there are dozens of Eld’s deer, endangered and endemic to Southeast Asia.

They’re all mostly healthy, pampered and loved – until the day someone eyes them from behind the barrel of a gun. It costs $6,500 to shoot one of Ox Ranch’s zebras, slightly more for a kangaroo. An Eld’s deer is listed for $12,000, while bongos and cape buffalo go for $40,000 and $80,000 a head.

These are what critics call “canned” hunts, where animals inside enclosures are shot for meat and trophies. Even the pro-hunting Boone and Crockett Club strongly opposes them, critical of the “artificial or bogus hunting situation” that arises when a target is in captivity and can’t get away.
Sick! Just sick!
