Had a lecture from a journalist. He claimed a third of voters did not know who they would vote for some 5 days before the election. Not sure the source of his claim. But how? I have never been tempted to vote for a Republican since 1975. Caravans of foreigners came over in the Reagan era. He gave 3 million of them green cards.

Legitimate political discourse, or something. 'Where's Nancy?' as the new 'LOCK HER UP!'

'Suspect in Pelosi Attack Spewed Conspiracy Sewage Online'
[Some schmuck], 42, was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning at the Pelosi’s San Francisco residence. He “violently assaulted” Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s 82-year-old husband, with a hammer, according to police. [After shouting "where's Nancy?}

Police said they are still investigating [hammer guy's] motive for attacking Mr. Pelosi. But online screeds published on a personal blog may offer some insight into [hammer guy's] mindset.

...

[Hammer guy] posted memes about the “Great Reset,” a belief popular with pro-Trump media figures that holds that world elites plan to destroy the economy and enslave humanity.

In another post, [hammer guy] advocated for the ridiculous belief, popular among supporters of the QAnon conspiracy theory, that Hillary Clinton sexually abuses children in Satanic rituals and murders her political foes. [Hammer guy] filled his blog with anti-Semitic and racist references, including a post denying the Holocaust took place.

Twitter feed not talking about Nancy's hubby being hammered? Neither is anyone else.

I did not stay up to hear about 2016 and 2020 Trump elections. This time I may stay up to about 1AM to follow the senate elections. The house is on its own, i can't help that. I only want to find out the next day what happened to 3 trumpster congress people. Boebert and 2 more.

Abortion not a big issue other than a few areas. Even in Ohio, the personality of Vance was enough to eject him.

It turns out the electoral college that we aways hated is somewhat a model for democracy. We can use it to prove Trump never wonbthe popular vote.

It's NOT a democratic model, not since every state and whatnot passed regs to force great electors to follow certain trends sent by parties and vote counts rather than vote according to their own best estimation, once designated.

Well the winner take all (electoral votes) rule went in sometime early 1800s in every state but 2. State powers!

Democracy is not an all or nothing phenomenon. Modern nations vary from the people having virtually no say in the operations of their countries up to having at least reasonable access to influencing decisions. Representative democracy can be flawed and warped in many ways, and I suspect that a Trumpets Republican dominated political landscape would increase those flaws considerably. But that is not the same as making a bald statement that they are not a democracy in the slightest...
