There are a couple of scenarios we could end up with. Let's say Trumpsters get really active and grab the house and senate 2022. This would result in a big turnout in 2024 from both sides. We could get a 2024 house and senate for Democrats. And still get Trump due to election tampering. That is, Trump could get the electoral vote half way legitimately. We would have a repeat of the last 2 years of Trump. He would burn out very quickly. I predict he would not last the 4 years no matter what.

Maybe the "replacement theory" is happening? At least we will have a few million "foreigners" added to voting registers in 5 years. All you have to prove is that you speak English:
In fiscal 2019, nearly 710,000 people received lawful permanent residence in the U.S. through family sponsorship. The program allows someone to receive a green card if they already have a spouse, child, sibling or parent living in the country with U.S. citizenship or, in some cases, a green card. Immigrants from countries with large numbers of applicants often wait for years to receive a green card because a single country can account for no more than 7% of all green cards issued annually.

I guess it's too simple to just get rid of the electors. :coffee:

Romney: Democrats freaking out. There is nothing there. It's perfectly legal.
“To be clear, I want an election system that allows every eligible citizen in every state to be able to exercise their right to vote in every single election, Romney said.

And “putting hysteria” aside, Romney said he doesn’t support the Democrats’ bill because it weakens voter ID, makes it easier to cheat accommodating unmonitored vote collection boxes and opens the gates to a flood of pre- and post-election lawsuits. He also said he doesn’t favor federal funding for campaigns or requiring states to allow felons to vote.

Romney said the Democrats’ bill is not focused on the real threat, which he says is the corruption of the counting of the ballots, the certification of elections and the Congressional provisions for accepting and counting a slate of electors.

People who are the beneficiaries of a system rarely want to change it. Romney, like others, focuses only on what he might lose rather than what everyone might gain.

Rather odd polling data. I think that is the independents. Not sure. OK, that is the whole pool. See
https://www.npr.org/2022/01/18/10737749 ... m=news_tab

The biggest shift was among Independents: the share of Democratic-leaning Independents went from 19% to 14% over the course of 2021, while those identifying as Republican-leaning Independents went up from 15% to 19%.

Manchin opposed to TINY change to filibuster. The problem with it was that there was an extremely small chance that the voting rights bill would pass. Joe's backers did not want that.
