Well we got Obama in. It was a miracle the second term.

'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'
There are a LOT of pissed off women in the US.... :lou:
"With the midterm elections less than five months away, the decision by SCOTUS has sent shockwaves through the electorate," says Lee M. Miringoff, Director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion. "Men are +12 points and women are +18 points more likely to support congressional candidates who pledge to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade. Digging deeper, 63% of women, including 74% of suburban women, are also concerned that the Court’s decision is a harbinger of things to come."

That's a reality show Tero, all the idiots tune-in then. You already know this.

Mac. Many women are pro-life. We need Republicans to lose where they shouldn't. Given that they have rigged the system to limit the impact of opposition, what effect are you expecting to see on account of Roe where Republicans are strong? The women there support the reversal and every one will vote. :dunno:

I don't think Assange is going to be doing much of anything. Last I heard he's being extradited to the states.

Mac. Many women are pro-life.
did you read the poll numbers ....sure some are pro-life but 2/3s want the choice.

There are swing states that are narrowly held by repuglies .....women will count as will pissed off men and demographics grind away the repugly base.
Even bringing out people to vote will make an impact. That poll was pretty strong,

I don't think I'm being clear. To combat Republicans, Democrats need to win where they can't possibly win, and more than once. Simply maintaining the Senate --which they are unlikely to do-- isn't enough.

But that's all people looking at these polls are doing: cheering about an unlikely and ineffective majority.

"We'll make sure that when a kid is in the womb, they’re as safe as they are in a classroom..."

Yes, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a former White House press secretary during Trump's presidency and current Republican candidate for the gubernatorial election in Arkansas really did say that. :fp:

Speaking of guns, the USA has memorialised Independence Day with another mass killing. 6 dead and 16 wounded in Illinois. The weapon is described as "a high-powered rifle". Witnesses said the shots were fired in quick succession. The perpetrator is still at large. The event marks at least the 308th mass shooting in the US this year, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit tracking such incidents.

While many factors are involved in them, the availability of firearms would have to be a major one.

In Australia the private ownership of concealable weapons has become next to impossible beginning in the late 1940s. In 1996 ownership of semi-automatic rifles and pump action shotguns has been outlawed for almost everyone. Open and concealed carry permits are non-existent. There are stringent requirements to meet before one will be issued with a firearm permit of any description. Among them are having to pass safety training courses and possessing safes in which firearms must be locked away when not in use. "Self protection" is not recognised as a valid reason to own a gun of any description. According to shills for the gun lobby, who claim that the solution to gun crimes is for more people running around with guns Australia should be worse off than the US. Statistics show the opposite state of affairs. I have recently updated a graph comparing murder rates in the USA with those in Australia.
