Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Guns will lead to a decline in the US as a leader for technology and education. The foreigners that took all those jobs will look elsewhere, for safer homes.

It's just not a great way to convince us that the man in the seat means all that much. That sounds cruel, and I don't mean it to be. I voted for the guy. But he's hardly more than a variable. Which is fine, I guess. But if we're going to go this route, then we need to roll the President's power wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy on back...
Seems to me, as an outside observer, that the executive and the legislature are both ineffectual institutions and both defer to the supreme court. Which is to say that the unelected court now appears to hold real political power and decide on political policy matters.

Soon they will decide the commerce clause means nothing and the feds are to stay out of the states. They are merely to collect the electoral votes from the states. Also the rivers are to be divided between states. The feds can only defend the US border by shooting all illegals.

Some 30-40% of voters are supposed to be independents. There is some one thing that they hate about both parties. But there is no huge centrist block. In the general public column. The green block.

Ambivalent right is a mystery. You can't be say opposed to abortion of all type and be ambivalent.

The fact that voting rights bills were not passed in the Biden 2 years may actually be a good thing. The supreme court has no chance to try to ban them. The contested races will all be handled in state courts, few reaching the supreme court.

If things stay the same in the senate, the Democrats will have to address voting rights in 2023. Otherwise the 2024 presidential election is guaranteed to be a mess.

They might be reading too much into this. Democrats don't need to vote in primaries. Republicans do, as every race has a trumpster and a non-trumpster.
CNN

In both California and New Jersey -- states with key US House races that could determine control of Congress -- early metrics suggest that turnout has been low, reflecting the sour mood of voters about gas prices, rising crime and an uncertain economy.
Voter disengagement was most evident in California, where nearly 22 million ballots were mailed out to every eligible voter. Despite an array of competitive House races -- where the top two vote-getters regardless of party will advance to the general election -- and several marquee local contests, including the race for mayor in Los Angeles and an attempted recall of San Francisco's district attorney, only about 18% of ballots had been returned as of Tuesday even though they were mailed to voters weeks ago, according to ballot tracking data from the California-based firm Political Data Intelligence.

There might be some measurable effect in this situation: You vote for a new candidate over the sitting politician, your candidate wins the primary. You then want to show up in the November election to guarantee your newcomer wins. The lure of "change," your part in achieving great things.

"in House primaries across the country, Republicans largely opted to keep their incumbents, rejecting challenges from candidates who attempted to align themselves more closely with former President Donald Trump."

The inflation that Biden was causing around the world:

NYT More on the economy
Wall Street entered a bear market. The last time stocks fell this much was the onset of the pandemic, and before that, the 2007-8 financial crisis.
Cryptocurrency prices have also crashed.
These charts explain why gas prices are so high.*
Supply chain issues are causing a tampon shortage.
Will America repeat the Great Inflation of the 1960s and ’70s? Almost certainly not, the former Fed chairman Ben Bernanke argues in Times Opinion.

The tampon shortage made Marjorie Taylor Greene conclude that we are running out of tampons because "Joe Biden is putting tampons in men's rooms." Another attack on trans people.

*The single biggest factor driving the spike now is the price of crude oil. As of April, according to the Energy Information Administration, the cost of the raw material accounted for 60 percent of the price of a gallon of regular gasoline. That compares to 52 percent the same time a year ago, and just 25 percent in April 2020 — when the pandemic sapped demand for fuel, along with most other goods and commodities.
