Two magats in PA race, one is out, OZ is still in:
No winner has been projected yet in the the GOP Senate primary in Pennsylvania, where Trump-endorsed celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz is facing off against conservative activist Kathy Barnette and hedge fund CEO David McCormick. Lt. Gov. John Fetterman will win the Democratic Senate nomination, CNN projects.

"What? Abortion? I didn't know, i don't listen to news, it's depressing."
No one knows how any of this will play out. The election of Donald Trump proved once and for all that political journalists aren't psychic. Even presidential-election polling seems less accurate than it once was. In September, Texas paved the way for overturning Roe v. Wade. Only these past two weekends, nine months later, after Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion that would officially end Roe leaked, did we see protests across the country. Voters do care about the right to abortion. It just took them some time to realize that their rights were being taken away.
https://newsletters.theatlantic.com/wai ... -coverage/

much of it did not make any news
More than 380 "Bans Off Our Bodies" demonstrations for abortion rights were planned for Saturday. Sponsors of the daylong event included Women's March, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, UltraViolet, MoveOn, the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Abortion Rights Action League.

Planned Parenthood began organizing the nationwide "day of action" months before a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision leaked, sparking celebrations from anti-abortion demonstrators and protests outside the Supreme Court, which is surrounded by a security fence, and the justice's homes.

Before Saturday's protests, the Senate failed to pass a bill that would have enshrined a nationwide right to abortion.

If the Republican governors win in November, Dems will need a much more charismatic candidate to run in 2024. To win.
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/0 ... h-00030250

If Trump does win 2024 he will not last the whole term. His VP could then finish the MAGA policy to 2028 but that will be the end. A painful process to get a next generation Democrat in power 2028. We should have the person now. It's not Harris.

That's the odd thing. Biden seems completely ineffective to both parties. Trump as president was equally ineffective, but his stunts, like a tariff on China made him seem effective."He is punishing Communist China, like he promised!" I guess you need some showmanship.

That's one perspective Tero. But I remember when Obama was running the smartest people I knew only cared about one thing: the Supreme Court. And by that criteria the McConnell Trump one-two may have ended us.

It's just not a great way to convince us that the man in the seat means all that much. That sounds cruel, and I don't mean it to be. I voted for the guy. But he's hardly more than a variable. Which is fine, I guess. But if we're going to go this route, then we need to roll the President's power wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy on back...

Now that the GOP has the Supreme Court, and especially because they will never have a president again, so they will lose power, this is the best time for the court to make the federal agency illegal. It has no constituonal basis

They should rename it the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Expletives.
