Matt Taibbi argued that the “news that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is headed home without issuing new charges is a death-blow for the reputation of the American news media.” https://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/ti ... reputation. That's Matt Taibbi - Rolling Stone Reporter and very anti-Trump.

They soooo "wanted" it to be true - they believed every rumor -- they fucked up so many times saying that so and so knew about the wikileaks dump before it went public, when that wasn't true - publishing front page stories of Manafort in secret meetings with Assange - which was not true.

Anyone following this story knows that time after time after time, we were given front page, first story news of "this is it! they got him!" - We have his tax returns!! Oh, wait, they show he paid a higher tax rate than various Democrats and he paid his taxes.... no problem... nothing to see here!

On June 12, 2017, Fortune claimed that RT had hacked into and taken over C-SPAN and that C-SPAN “confirmed” it had been hacked. The whole story was false.

Russian Hackers Invaded the U.S. Electricity Grid to Deny Vermonters Heat During the Winter (Washington Post). False.

A New, Deranged, Anonymous Group Declares Mainstream Political Sites on the Left and Right to be Russian Propaganda Outlets and WashPost Touts its Report to Claim Massive Kremlin Infiltration of the Internet (WashPost) - False!

Trump Aide Anthony Scaramucci is Involved in a Russian Hedge Fund Under Senate Investigation (CNN) - False!

Russia Attacked U.S. “Diplomats” (i.e. Spies) at the Cuban Embassy Using a Super-Sophisticated Sonic Microwave Weapon (NBC/MSNBC/CIA). False!

Trump Created a Secret Internet Server to Covertly Communicate with a Russian Bank (Slate) -- False!!

Paul Manafort Visited Julian Assange Three Times in the Ecuadorian Embassy and Nobody Noticed (Guardian/Luke Harding). False!

Robert Mueller Possesses Internal Emails and Witness Interviews Proving Trump Directed Cohen to Lie to Congress (BuzzFeed) - False!

Donald Trump Jr. Was Offered Advanced Access to the WikiLeaks Email Archive (CNN/MSNBC) - False.

Like I said, it feels good to me. It makes sense that Trump's mouth would get him into trouble. He's exactly the kind of guy I'd expect to be the subject of an investigation that assumed at the outset it was looking into a big problem, which turned out in the end to not be so "huge". That's Trump. This confirms what I've thought about the guy, and it's better than having a President that did colluded with the Russians.

That's the thing that always got me. If he'd just sat tight and stayed positive about the Comey investigation, he'd have had this done by the end of 2017.

Then he could have fired Comey once his investigation was done, and escaped all the drama.

No BS. Manafort and Cohen going to jail. Mafia boss Trump will be in hot water for tax fraud.

And the obstruction of justice thing may not be completely put to bed. As the video Forty Two linked noted, Mueller explicitly didn't exonerate Trump of obstruction, he left it to Rosenstein and Barr to decide whether to prosecute.

If the details of what Mueller get out, I can see some potentially politically productive second-guessing from the Democrats.

It could end up smelling like Benghazi by November of next year. :pop:

At the very least, the Trump team had to be aware of Russian interference in the election, and gleefully let it happen...

Well, didn't the stolen emails come to George Papadopoulos' attention in April, 2016, a couple of months before the DNC hack became public? I seem to recall from the indictment his source was a Russian professor with government connections, and he shared that with his campaign supervisor.

Maybe it's not a crime, but IMO the patriotic thing to do would have been to notify the FBI.

I guess it's too much to ask....:sigh:

Maybe that's why this guy got kicked off the team.
Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.
