Meh. Trump's hope for reelection depends on the stupidity of the American public. In my opinion his chances are still good.

I think that voter's perception of his opponent will also be a major factor. It certainly was in the case of Hillary Clinton. Biden is probably not on the nose with many voters as she was, but his perceived fragility and lack of charisma may reduce the chance of uncertain voters leaving the Trump fold...

I wonder if Old School Joe even uses email.

Seriously, most Americans aren't paying very close attention yet. After the conventions is usually when the campaigns heat up. Of course, this has been an unusual year, so who knows how that will go.

Treasury Department data released Monday shows that religious organizations, ranging from nearly 10,000 Catholic churches to hundreds of Jewish groups, received 88,411 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans since the program began April 3. Several churches affiliated with outspoken Trump supporters and close associates amassed at least $17.3 million in loans intended to help small businesses and nonprofits retain workers.

Included among the top loan recipients is the megachurch of pastor Robert Jeffress, who last year called Trump a Christian "warrior." Another is City of Destiny, the Florida megachurch run until recently by White House spiritual adviser Paula White-Cain.

:funny: Yeah, I recognize their approach from past Republican attack ads. I think the way they've used their techniques on Trump is amusing. I read a sort of casual analysis that said they really aren't trying to convince any voters directly through the ads, though they'd be happy to do that. They're trying to get Trump to do their work for them.

The idea is that they'll get under Trump's skin and 'live in his head.' By promoting particular things that they hope will enrage him they intend to elicit further incoherent malevolence from the presidential burgerhole, which will in turn alienate some marginal voters.

The Lincoln Project guys to ads the way Fox News does its news segments. It reminds me of Tucker Carlson's piece on the Seattle exclusion zone with the scary music. It's very right-wing in its approach. Almost fear-mongering.
