Most people don't pay attention to the things that make news. That's why lying is a key skill in politics. People believe whatever gets repeated the most often and loudest in their vicinity. It need not square with any actual facts as most people, as a result of their inattention, are blissfully ignorant of the facts. It's the most potent ally that Trump has going into 2024. Ignorance is the most neglected problem we face as a whole.
