You don't need to know where everyone lives to determine the unemployment figure.

Maybe, but the figures are carefully massaged by governments to make them look better than they really are.

Shouldn't this topic be in a different thread?

That they're massaged is irrelevant to Dutchy's need for a surveillance state.

Got something to hide then? They might find out you doing the system? Why when a country is organised and functions it becomes a surveillance state? Of course you just love living in pig shit.
All countries of the EU have a form of registration except the UK. Wonder why?

Pinged to my devices under the breathless banner of BREAKING NEWS!

Nicola Sturgeon calls for a second referendum on Scottish independence by 2021 to give residents 'a choice between Brexit and a future for Scotland'
Speaking in Edinburgh today Mrs Sturgeon argued the current Brexit deadlock at Westminster makes indyref2 necessary, five years after she lost the last one.

She said: 'A choice between Brexit and a future for Scotland as an independent European nation should be offered in the lifetime of this Parliament.

'I can confirm that the Scottish Government will act to ensure that the option of giving people a choice on independence later in this term of Parliament is progressed.'...

Lord grant that Boris Johnson
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.

let's face it, she's utterly failed to do what she was named PM for, and there are going to be EU elections that should never have happened and that likely will show record level abstention and possibly a labour landslide, and nobody knows whether the newly appointed EMPs will actually do anything of if there's going to be a brexit in the end, she's toast politically, and the kind of shitty stick no one will want to touch for the rest of her life.

Or did you mean the sturgeon thing, that is indeed desperate of doing anything to prevent Scotland from leaving the EU, which she has no means at all of preventing since, if Scotland leaves the UK before brexit, it will be a new independent country, with no particular grandfather clause to claim to be part of the EU already, and if it happens after brexit, she'll be a separate part of a non member country and subject to the whole rigmarole of newcomers trying to become members... with luck , she'll get a fast lane to membership, but that's assuming nobody opposes the move, which is not guarantteed at all.

Sturgeon's party, the Scottish National Party, are not unlike UKIP in as much as they coalesce around a single issue: an independent Scotland. However, unlike UKIP (or Farage's new Brexit Party), they have developed broader appeal through the adoption of sensible social democratic policies that go a long way beyond the "Scotland for the Scots" banner. Significantly, today Sturgeon offers the "residents of Scotland" a clear choice between Brexit and no-Brexit - the first major UK party to do so - by declaring that casting a vote for independence would be a de facto vote for EU membership, regardless of the practicality of that proposition - not least of which being that any future Scottish independence referendum mush be voted for by MPs in Westminster. Sturgeon is betting on anti-Brexit sentiment being so present and strong in Scotland that her party can turn it to electoral, and therefore political advantage - and from what I see the odds on that wager look pretty good.

Britons most positive in Europe on benefits of immigration

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/ ... _clipboard

"British people are more persuaded of the benefits of immigration than any other major European nation, according to a global survey, which has also found that almost half of Britons think immigrants are either positive or neutral for the country.”
