Wanting to get elected should disqualify you for office. All government positions should be filled by a random draw, like jury duty.

The Tory leadership contest, which arguably is very much on topic in this thread given how Brexit did for May, has to be one of the most tedious processes I can remember. They are voting (party members) on a more or less daily basis to knock one contender out of the race per day, based at least in part on televised debates every night which you can watch, if your paint drying is too stimulating a spectacle. The public have fled in droves.

The content of the debates are like bags of fart gas set off floating in the air bursting their ego filled rhetorical flatulence which somehow still manages to be empty, lacking in conviction and sincerity onto an audience which has lost all interest In the proceedings and just want Boris to get on with fucking things up even more. What a fucking shambles.

So long as bojo is in the race, I won't be interested in the slightest, once the elephant in the room has been voted away, it might get interesting.

You seem confident he’ll be knocked out. He’s well in the lead right now.

Actually while I don’t like any of their politics Rory Stewart comes over as the least self seeking and hypocritical. We’ll see.

Most Conservative party members, the 140,000 people who will decide who the next Prime Minister is, would rather see the break up of the Union, the economy collapse, or the Troy party destroyed in order to get Brexit - unless it meant a Labour government.
Most Conservative members would see party destroyed to achieve Brexit

Nothing is sacred now as the Conservative Party membership seeks to secure Brexit – except keeping Jeremy Corbyn out of Number 10

Over the last three years Brexit has turned British politics upside down, and perhaps no institution has been hit harder than the Conservative Party. The issue has forced two successive Tory Prime Ministers out of office and spurred the creation of a new party of the right which is currently beating the Conservatives in the polls.

Now a new YouGov survey of Conservative Party members reveals just how much Brexit has changed the mood of the membership, subverting traditional loyalties and reshaping political priorities.

So dedicated to accomplishing Brexit are Tory members that a majority (54%) would be willing to countenance the destruction of their own party if necessary. Only a third (36%) put the party’s preservation above steering Britain out of the EU.

Party members are also willing to sacrifice another fundamental tenet of Conservative belief in order to bring about Brexit: unionism.* Asked whether they would rather avert Brexit if it would lead to Scotland or Northern Ireland breaking away from the UK, respectively 63% and 59% of party members would be willing to pay for Brexit with the breakup of the United Kingdom.

A similar proportion (61%) would also be willing to countenance significant economic damage done to the British economy in order to leave the EU...

actually, I'm not confident at all, but I'm not interested in that blowhard and nincompoop of a political animal being the next occupant of 10 downing.

and if Rory stewart has those traits to the point of being qualities, I expect him to be sent off the competition fairly soon.

Of course Stewart's out. He was the only candidate who was unequivocal in saying he'd implement May's negotiated deal. Another Etonian down, only two left in now - Hunt and JoBo, but three out of four Oxbridge alumni. The blue-on-blue feeding frenzy continues. :bored:

I wonder how many would give up their testicles, if it meant a good, hard up-the-bum Brexit?

And do they think people like Rees-Mogg will respect them in the morning?
